Faculty of The University of Mississippi have the opportunity to receive their eLearning Teaching Certificate, which will give them the ability to teach online courses at the university.
Over the years, teaching has certainly evolved and there have been many different ways for students to learn. One way in which faculty and students have adapted to these changes is through online education.
The goal of the eLearning Training Course (eTC) is to familiarize first-time online instructors with the pedagogical concepts of effective and engaging online teaching. To be endorsed, faculty must first obtain approval from their departmental chair. Furthermore, certification will give instructors a hands-on experience in designing and developing their online course.
Faculty of the University of Mississippi will be able to receive their eLearning Teaching Certificate, through the Office of eLearning. The training course will run over a six-week period and is completed entirely online.
The eTC course includes:
Module 1: Understanding Online Teaching and Learning
Module 2: Course Design
Module 3: Communication and Collaboration
Module 4: Course Compliance
Module 5: Course Development
Module 6: Conclusion and Next Steps
Faculty can choose one of these four sessions to complete their training:
Session I: September 14 – October 23 (Closed)
Session II: October 12 – November 20
Session III: February 15 – March 25
Session IV: March 21 – April 29
