Randy has worked with Web and digitally delivered education materials for 25 years. He has worked in both private industry and academic institutions. Randy left Ole Miss to join the award winning Learning Center at Buckman Laboratories in Memphis, Tennessee. Buckman is global chemical producer, and has earned high honors in the private sector for its educational programs and employee development. Randy jumped at the opportunity to work with the remarkable team at Buckman for 2 years. According to Randy:

“Buckman was rated by Training Magazine as number 26 of the top 125 companies in the US for its employee education and training programs. For a family owned business the size of Buckman, (Approximate annual revenue of $450,000), that is pretty remarkable. I wanted to see what they are doing”.

Randy immediately learned how to quickly develop online teaching modules, and in 6 languages simultaneously.

“When I arrived at Buckman they had just tragically lost a Chinese employee to asphyxiation, while he was cleaning a chemical storage tank. We had to create courses and a program that would disseminate detailed, lifesaving information quickly to our workers in the field. An International team accomplished this in one month with a Web delivered program required by every associate. That was my first experience in developing something really vital and under a very tight time-frame. Oh, and it had to be done in 6 languages. I learned a lot.”

Randy is looking forward to working again on the Ole Miss online initiatives.
