Every semester our office receives a number of accommodation requests for students with disabilities. The most requested accommodation is extended time–time and a half of original time allowed for the test. This article provides a step-by-step guide to create Blackboard tests with extended time. The guide only applies to online tests created in Blackboard.
The Blackboard upgrade in December 2013 introduces a new and easy way to set up an extended time test. Instructors no longer need to duplicate a test or add an adaptive release. They can now create exception(s) for each specific student while setting up the availability of the test.
Overview of the Process
- 1. Edit the test options.
- 2. Set test availability exceptions per student.
- 3. Exceptions can be set to allow extra time, make the test available at an earlier or later date, and allow multiple attempts.
