Online Pedagogy Principles badge

The Online Pedagogy Principles Badge is focused around the principles and standard practices of online teaching and student-centered learning. The series is designed to encourage instructors to promote meaningful interaction and student engagement in a primarily asynchronous online learning environment.

To be awarded a badge, participants must successfully complete:

Essentials of Online Teaching and Content Delivery (required)
The course covers course design topics, including instructor role adjustment based on course modality, Community of Inquiry framework, social presence — student engagement, and course management and learning guidance. While the content focuses on teaching in the online environment, these effective course design practices can be utilized when creating a course in any mode.
Skills: Online Teaching, Online Communication, Instructor Presence, Online Pedagogy
Criteria for Completion: Successfully complete all Module Progress Checks in the course.

Student Engagement Activities in Online Courses
The course explores different approaches, methods, and techniques for implementing student engagement activities in an online environment.
Skills: Online Student Engagement, Online Learning Activities
Criteria for Completion: Describe a plan to implement an online student engagement activity that addresses at least one of the key engagement factors.
